164/365: Family time

Today has been filled with studying, and I can say that I’m finally ready for my exam!

Then my friends came from Sweden.

And I went to dinner with my family.

Than, surprisingly, I got some great work done on an assignment.

And now, I’m sitting here laughing, while my friends try to learn Icelandic.

Again, a short one for today! Going to sleep very soon 😊

Sleep well ❤️

163/365: Study!

So, today has been mostly studying!

And then helping my friend move 🙂

And now I´m lucky to be with my whole family, for the first time since Christmas leave in Florida!

So, this will be a super short blog post!

Tomorrow, I´ll be welcoming to of my dear friends to Iceland. I´m excited!

Sleep well ;*

162/365: Study day!

It is the big study day! It is the day I´m going to prepare myself for the exam I have on Monday (which I should have been doing all of this week, but wasn´t really happening).

After some pause, and silence, I believe my motivation and focus is slowly coming back.

The day will start quite late, considering that it´s almost noon now (I woke up super early after way to little sleep, and then decided to sleep more to be able to study – so I was waking up very late).

My mornings are slower and more fulfilling these days. My meditations are growing longer. My showers are too. And breakfast, always.

It feels very good to have that time in the morning for myself.

I´ve also reached a new milestone – meditating 200 days in total with the Insight timer since I started using the app in September. This meditation is really supporting my health and happiness.

And so are all my wonderful friends. All the amazing people around me, that take part in deep conversations, and truly listen and understand. I feel truly blessed with those wonderful people in my life. I also feel like my friendships are slowly becoming deeper and more meaningful.

So this is a happy, happy day.

Everything is turning out like it is supposed to turn out.

And soon enough, I´ll be studying for my exam. And then I´ll be done with it! (my last exam in university, unless I do another degree!)

I hope you´ll have a fantastic Friday!

Remember to take deep breath, laugh real belly laughs and go into nature – those are the sources of happiness.

161/365: Good morning!

I´m having the privilege of slow mornings lately, and I really, really need it.

I also really like writing these blog posts in the morning, I think they motivate me for the day – plus I do NOT have to write them just before bed! When I got home late yesterday after going out with a friend, that was very much appreciated.

Talking about motivation though, yesterday I did so much, and absolutely no studying!

I did all the things, that have been on my to do list since February, and I haven´t made time for.

Yeah, the extended deadline really gave me some breathing room.

Now however, I feel that I´m running a bit late with everything, so I´ll cut this one short 😉

Today´s focus:

  • Go to a meeting.
  • Prepare for final exam on Monday!
  • Meet friends in the evening.

I hope you´ll have a wonderful Thursday!

160/365: My favourite kind of morning

This is my favourite kind of morning.

I slept in! (till 8:30 😛 )

And then I started my day with cuddling in bed, talking to some friends and then getting my computer and a glass of water to write my blog – in bed!

Soon enough I´ll turn to my usual routine: meditation, yoga, shower, breakfast.

But for now, a short pause. A slow morning.

Relaxing into this day, taking it step by step, without worry or hurrying.

This is the privilege of being a student. Right now, I have nowhere to be till 5:30 pm!

I obviously need to study. But I can still move slowly and be relaxed about this whole day.

It feels good, I need it.

159/365: Early risings

I woke up at 6 am this morning! (an hour before my alarm!)

So there is no surprise, after the day I had (with four children´s yoga classes) that I can barely keep my eyes open now.

It´s clear that I´m transitioning to a different sleep schedule with the sun rising this early, and I´m excited to wake up early tomorrow as well, and having a productive day.

I got an acceptation for an extended deadline today on one of my assignments, and feeling must more calm about everything. I think that with this calmness, I´ll somehow find my motivation again for studying.

Almost asleep writing this – good night! ;*

158/365: Work, work, work!

Now I´m changing to the schedule that I talked about a while back.

Wake up, Meditate, Yoga and Blog!

It´s 9 am now. My goal is that on Wednesday, I will be writing this at 8 am.

I actually woke up long before my alarm this morning, not because I was fully rested, but because it´s day time! Sun is getting up very early now, and I know I´ll need to go to sleep early to wake up that early as well.

So, it´s sleep at 10 pm, waking up at 7 am – getting my wonderful 9 hours!

Also, I have (almost) started meditating for 20 minutes in the morning! I did it yesterday. Today, I gave up after 13 minutes (just think, all those 7 minutes I couldn´t stand!). Tomorrow, I´ve attempting 20 minutes as well.

Now it´s time to create a work schedule for this week.

This is what I am going to finish in the next couple of weeks:

  • A final exam in statistics on the 30th of April (study, study, study and prepare!)
  • A 8-page integration paper due 4th of May.
  • A 12-page research report due 11th of May (and as I´m leaving the country on the 5th, I plan to submit it then as well).

So, this is ALL I will be doing for the next two weeks. And with a great plan, and motivation to execute it, I will.

So, I have today´s action plan written out to the minute! and tomorrow as well.

I feel already how writing this out helps me to do all of this!

This was my view biking home with a friend yesterday!

So, shower and start this day!!

157/365: Biking

It is summer! And I have started biking everywhere!

Right now, I´m tired and I don´t want to.

And at the same time I love it!

Of course it is more challenging to bike than sit in a bus. And yet, it takes about the same time (and I´m sure I´m faster!) and the fresh air is so much better than the dreaded bus air!

Yesterday I biked to Grótta, a lighthouse 7 km from my home in the center of Reykjavík. It was so lovely.

When I got there, I made myself sit for 10 minutes with my eyes closed and listen to the waves. It is amazing how a little bit of quiet can do for you.

“I get in nature”

That sentence, from my work with Mark England, is what brought me outside on my bike. If you are ready to change your life to the better, check out his website!

And today I´m biking even more. With fresh air and wonderful wind on my face!

It will take a little time for my body to get used to biking so much, I know. I went to sleep at 10 pm yesterday after my bike ride! Today I´ll probably go to sleep right when I get home as well.

And it´s wonderful. I also woke up super early this morning and had the best time with meditation and yoga, before heading out. I´m really starting to appreciate mornings with plenty of time for myself.

“I will go to sleep at 10 pm, so I can wake up at 7 am – refreshed and ready for the day”.

That is my affirmation right now.

So with this in mind, it´s time to bike to my next place!

Thank you for reading, as always ;*

156/365: The experiment

So, long story short, I have iron deficiency.

It is not that I feel it (or moreover, suffer from it). Though, I´m hoping that I will feel somehow better when I get my iron levels up.

What matters most to me is that I want to be able to give blood.

And with lack of iron, I cannot.

I have taken iron supplements before, and felt quite bad of them – and taking them will always be a vicious cycle, I´ll fill myself up with iron, then I got no iron for a bit and need the supplements again.

So I´m trying something new.

I´m way to open to trying new things that I know nothing about. So I bought a Lucky Iron Fish!

So, what you do is boil this fish made of iron in water, with citrus, for 10 minutes. And then you can cool it down and drink it throughout the day.

And as I write this, I have finished my first liter, which is the recommended daily dose.

And that is what I´ll be doing, until August. In January, I went to the give blood and my iron levels were way too low. So in August (just before I go to Thailand, cause then I´ll have to wait a year) I will go and check my iron levels again and see if this things actually works!

So, I´m super excited!

(And also cheating, because I wrote this blog post yesterday, to get a day ahead).

🙂

155/365: It´s summer!

So, yesterday, I subconsciously decided to skip writing my blog. I wanted to, and then I just went to bed without doing it.

Ohh well, I´ll finish my 365 days eventually. Whatever I write when I´m too tired and don´t have time, is never any good anyway.

Yesterday was the first time of summer. I started my day with the first outdoor yoga class of this year, and it was wonderful. 17 people showed up!

I really didn´t feel like teaching, but afterwards I felt so amazing. It truly showed me how much teaching a yoga class can give to me as well.

Then, I drove to my hometown. The weather was beautiful on the way. Now I´m enjoying a few days with my little sister here, meanwhile somehow trying to study.

Today is reserved for a lot of planning (that didn´t really happen yesterday as planned) so that I can start preparing everything that needs to be done in the next two weeks. I know I´ll only be able to this with a lot of planning – and so much hard work!

So today actually started out perfectly.

I woke up early. I did a 10 minute meditation. I did yoga. I had tea.

By 9 am, I had done so much. This is how I want it to be.

I wonder how long I´ll wish for better mornings, before I actually make them happen!

Now I´m starting class! And then I´ll go to the beach with my sister and her dog.

Have a wonderful Friday.
